Botulinum Toxin Injections

Botulinum toxin produced by a microbe called Clostridium botulin. It is used in cosmetics to get rid of wrinkles or in medicine to treat several muscular conditions by temporarily paralyzing the muscles. In its pure state, botulinum toxin can be lethal, which is why it is only used in cosmetics in its highly diluted form.

It is proven safe and has gained the approval of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In Singapore, it is registered under the Ministry of Health, and the aesthetic chapter medical is recognized as a certified body to perform such treatment.

Botulinum can be safely used when injected into humans in very small concentrations and in its highly diluted form. It stops signals from the nerve cells from reaching muscles, causing the latter to stay paralyzed temporarily.

Muscles contract when the nerve cells produce the chemical messenger called acetylcholine right at the spot where the nerve endings join the muscle cells. Acetylcholine then attaches its receptors to the muscle cells, causing them to shorten or contract.

Benefits

One of the more recent discoveries for Botulinum benefit is jaw contouring or  jaw reduction. Botulinum can treat oversized masseter muscles in the jaw, reducing them and creating a gentler curved jaw and cheek. This is often preferred by people with a square-shaped face to get their desired oval-shaped face.

Overall, this treatment is suitable for:

A square-shaped jawline

A jawline that is more

masculine in nature

Chubby cheeks

Cheeks to appear “slimmer”

Those who want to reduce involuntary teeth grinding (bruxism)

Other areas that Botulinum Toxin usually being injected to enhance look are the forehead, crow’s feet, chin, neck and gummy smile.

What Problem Areas Does It Help?

The majority knows Botulinum as a facial treatment, but anti-wrinkle Botulinum has gone a long way past the face and has been proven as a temporary solution for lifting breasts. A Botulinum breast lift focuses on the chest area and helps to lift the part as well as reducing the wrinkles and lines.

Botulinum  breast lift is a non-surgical procedure that helps refilling volume in excess skin from the breasts and restores them to a more youthful position on the chest. Botulinum Toxin can also make breasts appear fuller and more defined cleavage for some patients.

As a wrinkle reducer, Botulinum is naturally injected into the muscles that contribute to the formation of wrinkles. In this case, pectoral muscles in our chests are responsible for the breasts to be saggy and droopy. Therefore, the Botulinum Toxin will be injected into the muscle and will cause pectoral muscles that pull on the shoulders to relax so that the shoulders don’t slouch and the breasts are lifted.

By relaxing the muscles, lines and creases will decrease significantly, giving your breasts a more natural, youthful look while maintaining its additional fullness. Results of a Botulinum breast lift are instant and visible even tight after the procedure. You may not have to wait long to see a better version of your breasts!

Facial Sculpting / Contouring

Aging is inevitable for everyone but it doesn’t mean you can’t hack your way through it. Through the years, you’ve heard of celebrities and other famous personalities getting ‘Botulinum’ to make sure they’re as fresh-looking and youthful as ever. Today, Botulinum has become the most popular form of non-surgical treatment in the cosmetic business. Every year, over 6 million Botulinum toxin injection treatments are administered. It is often administered together with facial surgery procedures such as eyelid lift or facelift to make the said procedures more effective. Jawline Botulinum is designed to reduce a prominent, disproportionate, or asymmetric jawline by weakening the masseter muscles.

FAQ

Before treatment, our doctor will determine which parts will need Botulinum by asking you to contract some parts of your face. Based on what facial muscles you want to be treated, those areas will be marked and later numbed with cream or cold compress. No anesthesia is required. The Botulinum will be injected directly into the muscles that need treatment using a very small needle. If you may feel discomfort, it will disappear after a short time.

There is no downtime required for Botulinum treatment. The actual injection only requires around 10 minutes or so, then you can return to your usual activities for the day. But the entire doctor’s appointment may last for an hour or so, from the start of the preparation to finish, depending on your case.

The effect of Botulinum  on the sweat glands lasts for 6-8 months, after which a top-up treatment is required to maintain the prevention of excessive sweating.

Botulinum Toxin A (BTA) is administered into the muscle or skin level via few tiny injections by our team of doctors.  The procedure takes only less than 10 minutes. Some patients report that being injected with botulinum toxin feels like a pinch. In some cases, numbing cream may be applied prior to the procedure to make the treatment virtually painless. Treatment requires minimal downtime or recovery; it’s often called a lunchtime procedure. You’ll be able to go about your normal routine immediately after you leave your doctor’s office.

BTA is most widely used to reduce wrinkles in area such as forehead, crow’s feet and glabella region. It can also relax the masseter muscle to make the face appear slimmer or “V” shape. Other indications of BTA include treatment of bruxism (teeth grinding), dimpled chin, bunny lines, subtle shaping of nose and eyebrows. Injection of BTA at underarms or palms can reduce the transmission of nerve impulse to the sweat glands, thus suppress sweat production. Studies also suggest that BTA in a diluted form can be administered at various points on the face, a technique called Meso-BTA, to reduce oil production of the face and achieve a more lifted look.

Results can be appreciated as early as 1 week. You will expect the results to last for 3 – 4 months. With repetitive treatments, the results are cumulative and last progressively longer.

The Botulinum Toxin Injections Treatment only takes 5-10 minutes and is relatively painless. Numbing cream can be applied to your skin before treatment, but the needles are so tiny that this can be done without any anaesthesia. Many patients have commented that the sensation is similar to getting an acupuncture or eyebrow waxing.
